During the creation of the “Preparation order” you can select nine Additional Packing options. These tasks will be seen by the warehouse employee who will pack the items before shipment.
According to Amazon’s packaging recommendations, Bubble wrap is used when an item is:
– Fragile and can be easily damaged in transit;
– Or heavy and could damage other items in transit.
Poly bag holds items securely in transit and protects them from moisture. If the Poly bag is larger than 5 inches there should be a choking warning. Failure to have a warning may result in items being re-packed. This is dictated by Amazon’s packaging recommendations.
Shrink wrap is a layer of plastic wrap that is thermally sealed around the product. It is weather resistant, waterproof and tamper proof. By using Shrink wrap, animals and rodents will not be able to damage your products during transportation or storage.
Black Shrinkwrap is used to protect products from light, or when privacy is required and the contents of the package need to be hidden. Amazon’s packaging guidelines say that adult products should be packaged in a black opaque plastic bag or shrink wrap.
Taping is a packaging tape for sealing boxes. Seals the box and protects against opening and loss of items.
This is necessary if the items may have vendor prices on them. A potential buyer, having received the item, may see the price lower than the purchase price and then he will feel scammed and may leave a negative feedback.
If you are using Fulfillment by Amazon and your or a third party warehouse is preparing the items to be shipped to the Amazon warehouse, there should be labels with the FNSKU number that you can get from Amazon Seller Central. This is a standard operation when packing items and if the warehouse does not find the labels on the item, it will activate this item itself in the item packer interface.
Opaque bagging is commonly used for packaging adult products, this is provided by Amazon’s general packaging recommendations. This can include a black opaque plastic bag or opaque shrink wrap.
And the last option is “No prep needed” – this is when you ask that nothing be done to the item and that the items be shipped unchanged.
Following these requirements directly affects your seller rating on marketplaces.
We do our best to make the life of the seller and the warehouse simple, fast and error-free.
This is how the “Additional Packing” items look like in the interface of the warehouse employee:
Your requests are always highlighted in red – so that a staff member doesn’t miss them.
If the packer does not make the additional requirements, the warehouse management system will not allow the order to be completed. This is how we protect you from human error.
